A fire at the Taim Ecological Reserve in southern Brazil has destroyed 1.4 hectares of forest, RIA reports.
The fire, which began on Tuesday, spread quickly due to dry conditions which exist this time of year in the region.
The cause of the fire, according to preliminary data, was a lightining strike on dry trees.
The reserve has an area of 34 hectares and is home to hundreds of species of animals and birds.
