Czech contingent starts mission in Mali

Czech troops have embarked on their military mission in Mali.
This will be the first African Mission in Czech history, said Ministry of Defence press secretary Jan Pesek.
Earlier, the Czech parliament approved sending 50 soldiers to Mali for 15 months. According Pesek, Czech troops will be stationed at military bases in Mali, but will not take part in hostilities.
It is planned that the first six months Czech troops will guard the main military base in the Mali capital, Bamako. Afterwards, they will be share expertise with the Mali military. Most of the new military arrivals in Mali did a stint in Afghanistan.
