Decision on Georgia's participation at Sochi Olimpic Games to be made on May 2

The National Olympic Committee of Georgia to make the final decision on the participation of Georgian athletes at Sochi Olympic Games on May 2, 2014.

A meeting of the Executive Committee of NOC was held today. The Committee discussed several important issues, including the participation at the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

"The deadline for making a decision is May 5 but we will meet at the extraordinary session of the NOC on May 2 and vote on the issue of the participation in the Olympic Games.In case of the positive decision, a delegation of 59 people will take part in the OlympicGames," - said the president of the National Olympic Committee Larry Habelov.

The results of the Winter Youth Olympic Games of Europe which took place in the Romanian city of Brashov also were brought at the Executive Committee meeting. The Georgian athletes showed modest results. As it was noted, a medal in winter games was not even planned.

The national team of Georgia will participate in the Summer Youth Olympic festival in the Dutch city of Utrecht in July. And the festival of 2015 will be accepted by the capital of Georgia.

In Utrecht the Georgian athletes will take part in six of 9 sports. Judoists have the best chance to win medals, said the secretary general of National Olimpic Committee of Georgia Emzar Zenaishvili.
