The Mariinsky orchestra tours Europe

The orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg has started a tour across four European countries.

Led by its artistic director and chief conductor Valery Gergiev, the orchestra will first perform in the 'Stravinsky's Portrait’ gala in Monaco to mark the centenary of the composer's The Rite of Spring ballet.

Then the company will be touring France, Switzerland and Italy to give the closing performance at theSanta Cecilia Concert Hall in Rome on April 12.
