Thousands protest gay marriage in France

Thousands of opponents of same-sex marriages took the streets of Paris in protest with Demonstrations timed to coincide with the beginning of the consideration of a bill by French Senators to legalize gay marriage and permit such couples to adopt children.

Representatives of various sectors of society and political forces are taking part in the actions.

"The executive branch needs to understand that we're going to fight to the end," said a representative of the organizing committee Tyugdual Derville, TASS reported.

Another demonstration of supporters of traditional marriage took place directly in front of the main entrance to the Senate.
Debate in the Senate is expected to last until April 13.
