Catholic priest arrested on embezzlement charges

Italy’s police have arrested a Roman Catholic priest on charges of embezzling €4 million as director of a Roman hospital run by the Roman Catholic Church.

Father Franco Decaminada, who ran a clinic for drug addicts until 2011, is accused of pocketing €4 million and reducing the clinic to bankruptcy.

The Vatican has refused to finance the clinic.
