Russian Saint to be celebrated in Kosovo

There are plans to dedicate a new Orthodox church to be built in Kosovo to St. Alexander Nevsky, a Russian war leader who defeated the Teutonic Knights in a momentous battle fought in 1242, Interfax reports.
Father Superior of St Petersburg’s Alexander Nevsky Monastery Bishop Nazariy spoke about this to reporters in Moscow Saturday after opening an exhibition of photos marking 300 years since the foundation of his monastic stronghold.
Next autumn, the exhibition will travel to Belgrade, which already has a church dedicated to St Alexander Nevsky.
Alexander Nevsky is also the heavenly patron of the main Cathedral of the Bulgarian capital Sofia.
