Venezuelan bishops call on people to take part in elections
World
A conference of bishops of Venezuela’s Reformed Catholic Church has called on the church’s parishioners to take part in the coming elections of the country’s president.
The Reformed Catholic Church of Venezuela allows its clergymen to marry and all its members to divorce.
By taking part in elections, a person performs his or her duty as a citizen, the bishops said.
They also called on the country’s political parties to respect the constitution and not to give promises that they will later not fulfill.
The Reformed Catholic Church of Venezuela fully supported the country’s late president Hugo Chavez.
