Four new Cossack villages are due to appear in Australia in the next few months, specifically in Melbourne, Geelong, Dandenong and on Tasmania Island, and will form part of the local department of the Trans-Baikal Cossack Troops.
According to Ataman Simeon Boikov, in charge of the force, the decision has been prompted by the growth of Cossack strength in Australia.
The first Cossack village was set up in Australia last year by Cossacks who moved to Australia from Russia following the Bolshevik revolution of 1917.
It was set up near Sydney, in the town of Cambaratta, and numbers some 150 people. The Cossacks are mainly focused on the preservation of the Russian language and culture.
