Arsenal reportedly preparing €20 million move for Iker Casillas
Sport
The rift between Real Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho and former starting goalkeeper and captain, Iker Casillas may finally be coming to a close as it is being reported that Casillas could be sold this summer, and English Premier League giants, Arsenal are the most likely contenders.
According to British newspaper, the Daily Star, after coming in as a temporary replacement while Casillas recovered from a broken hand, Diego Lopez has secured the starting spot and allowed Jose Mourinho the opportunity to ship the Spanish international away from the Santiago Bernabeu, following a rumoured season-long rift between the two parties.
Arsenal, who have been looking to find a solid starting keeper to possibly mentor inconsistent Polish keeper, Wojciech Szczesny, would be willing to pay up to €20 million for the 31-year-old’s services.
It remains to be seen if Casillas will return to his role as starting goalkeeper, and if Mourinho does indeed stay at the club amidst rumours of a return to Chelsea, Casillas could be the odd man out and make a move rather than sit on the bench.
