France’s wealthiest man Bernard Arnault who announced his decision to become a Belgian citizen last year has changed his mind.
In his interview with Le Monde he said that he has called off his request to the Belgian administrative bodies.
Arnault pointed out that he has always been and remains a French tax resident. As for dual citizenship, he needed it to develop his business in Belgium.
He said that he had underestimated the consequences of this step, so now he has decided to put an end to ambiguity.
Arnault said that he made this decision after sizing up the situation in the country and seeing the need for French people’s joint effort to overcome the crisis.
