Snowy blast hits Canadian provinces Ontario, Quebec
World
Over 100,000 buildings in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec were left without power as a result of a blizzard that hit the region. Gale-force winds of up to 80 km per hour brought down power lines, with wires torn under the weight of wet snow.
International airports in Toronto and Ottawa canceled hundreds of flights.
The past winter season in the Canadian capital witnessed over 230 cm of snow, with meteorologists warning there might be 14 to 18 cm more precipitation in the next 24 hours.
