Moscow unveils monument to author of anthem

A monument to the author of the Russian national anthem Alexander Alexandrov will be unveiled today in Moscow.
The monument crafted by sculptor Alexander Taratynov and architect Michael Korsi shall be installed in front of the building, which is now home to the Alexandrov Ensemble, founded by the maestro in 1928, ria REPORTS.
Soviet composer and conductor Alexander Alexandrov wrote a melody in 1943 that a year later was destined to became the official anthem of the USSR.
Since 2000 the same tune has been the anthem of the Russian Federation.
