Venice suspends Grand Canal motor boat traffic

In a historic first, Venice has imposed a five-hour ban on motor boat traffic along its Grand Canal.

The authorities hope this will raise public awareness of the need to deal with noise, pollution and wave erosion of old buildings.

The five-hour motor break will see a parade of ecofriendly electric and rowing boats.
