The iconic song, Ding Dong the Witch is Dead from the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz was pushed into the charts by rivals of Baroness Thatcher however, did not grab the number one position in the official charts. Duke Dumont’s Need U (100 percent) took the first spot while the Witch is Dead song took number two, even though it only needed 5 thousand more in sales to reach the top.
Though, it was the number one single in Scotland, according to the Official Charts Company website. Still, the punk song released by the Notsensibles called I’m In Love With Margaret Thatcher got into the top 40. The song was featured in a film recently, named The Iron Lady. This single was a rebuttal from fans of Margaret Thatcher, selling over 8 thousand copies.
