A criminal case is launched against the former employee of the police department of struggle against organized crime committing a fatal run over.

A criminal case is launched against Yerevan`s Charents street resident Armen Harutyunyan, 48.

As photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan informed yesterday, at about 21:30pm an unknown car hit a pedestrian in Charents street and without helping him escaped. The latter was Yerevan resident Aram Margaryan, 39, who died on the spot. At midnight the police found out that the run over had been committed with BMW X5 - 10 ՈԼ 100 model car. When the police arrived at Harutyunyan`s apartment, nobody was at home. After having found out from his neighbours that a number of police officers were gathered near his house, Harutyunyan voluntarily went to Nork-Marash general police department. The car was taken to penalty area. The photojournalist informed that Armen Harutyunyan had before worked at the police department of struggle against organized crime (6th division), then at RA general prosecution system. People gathered next to Marash police station informed that the run over was done not by Armen Harutyunyan but his son.

The investigation is underway.
