US Ambassador Matthew Bryza, whose diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan had ended, left the country on Jan. 3, APA reported.
The statement came from spokesperson for the US embassy in Baku Keith Bean.
The US Senate did not approve Mr. Bryza as the ambassador to Azerbaijan. Bryza said at the press conference in Baku on Dec. 29 that if his candidacy was not put to vote at the Senate, he would have to leave Azerbaijan until Jan. 3.
Adam Sterling will hold office of the US Charge d’Affaires in Azerbaijan until the appointment of the new ambassador.
