Boston Marathon medals for sale on eBay

Several Boston Marathon finisher's medals that are traditionally given to those who completed the 26.2-mile race appeared on eBay after the twin blasts that killed three people and wounded over 170, RIA reports.

Dan Ashworth, president of the medal manufacturer, Ashworth Awards, said: "It’s just disgusting. It is truly sad that people out there are attempting to profit from this."

He added he thought the medals might have been stolen during the chaos after the bombings.

EBay press secretary Cary Ramirez said the company was looking into how each lot could be removed individually. Currently, some are fetching bids of more than $2500.
