70 years since Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
Աշխարհ
70 years have passed since the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, which occurred in German-occupied Poland on April 19th 1943 as an act of Jewish resistance in their struggle against the unprecedented atrocities by the Nazis.
Victoria Slivovskaya from Warsaw bore witness to the events of 70 years ago, when she was 12.
She was lucky to escape from the Ghetto. Thanks to her parents, she found shelter with caring people who provided her with new identity papers and gave her a home. They themselves were among the 12,000 Ghetto defenders who were killed in the uprising.
Slivovskaya is currently a professor at the Institute of Historical Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
