Newly discovered planets have Earth-like features
Science and culture
NASA’s recent survey has discovered three planets, which are very similar to Earth. Two of the three planets are being called “super-Earth” found by the Kepler planet-hunting satellite. According to the journal Science these two planets might be covered in oceans and hence have life.
Kepler-62e, 62f and 69c, are the names of the three planets which orbit different stars, one having 5 planets, the other having just two. Of the trio, 62f is around the same size as Earth is, being only 40 percent bigger, and has the possibility of being rocky, as mentioned by NASA. Kepler-62e is 60 percent larger than Earth. However, the star they orbit is not like our Sun, as it produces less heat and is smaller in measurement.
The largest of the three is 69c which is being reported as 70 percent grander than Earth and revolves around a star that is like our Sun.
Responsible for the recent findings is the Kepler space telescope. The 590 million dollar program was started in 2009. This device has the ability to spot planets which are similar in size to Earth, scanning the Milky Way galaxy.
