6,3 quake strikes 6,3 quake strikes Northern Kurils

An earthquake measuring 6.3 magnitude struck the Kuril Islands in the vicinity of Paramushir Island Friday, says the Geophysical Survey of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The epicenter was located about 130 kilometers east of the city Severo-Kurilsk, at a depth of 18.6 kilometers under the seabed.
No tsunami threat was issued, but Severo-Kurilsk on Paramushir was left without electricity.
On Friday, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake occurred in the southern Kurils near Urup Island. No injuries or damage were reported.
