Lakhdar Brahimi dispels resignation rumors

Lakhdar Brahimi, the joint UN- Arab League envoy for Syria dispelled rumors Friday that he was planning to resign.

“Every day I wake up, I think I should resign, but I haven’t so far,” he told reporters.

Information that Brahimi may resign as joint Special Representative of the UN and the League of Arab States for Syria had been circulating in the media over the past few days.

It has been reported that the diplomat was dissatisfied with the actions of the League of Arab States as it took the side of the opposition and recognized it as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people.
