Syrian troops engage rebels near Damascus

Syrian troops fought rebels Friday in the environs of Damascus and elsewhere in the country.

The government forces inflicted serious losses on the militants.

A terrorist group in the village of Jobar, on the outskirts of Damascus, was wiped out; a munitions depot was destroyed at Wadi Ayn Tarma; while 13 terrorists were killed and a mortar launcher destroyed by an Army unit in the Eastern Guta district.trend

Meanwhile, Lakhdar Brahimi has dismissed rumours about his resignation as the UN and Arab League special envoy for Syria.
