Over 11,800 people injured in Chinese quake

At least 208 people were killed and approximately one thousand people were seriously injured in a powerful earthquake that hit southwest China's Sichuan Province local authorities reported on Sunday.
An earthquake of magnitude 7.0 was recorded on Saturday morning in the Sichuan Province at a depth of about 13 kilometers with its epicenter situated in the Lushan area of the Ya'an City District.
The overall number of those injured, according to the latest figures, currently exceeds 11, 800 people.
More than 10,000 soldiers, doctors and rescue workers are currently involved in the search and rescue operation, with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang personally overseeing the eforts.
Seismic activity has continued in the region since Saturday morning in the area of Lushan were there have been more than 70 tremors measuring at least 3.0 on the Richter scale.
