Bashar Assad: "Armenians did not leave Syria and Lebanon during the crisis."

The President of Syria Bashar Hafez al-Assad spoke about the Armenian people with praise. In Damascus he received different delegations representing various parties from Lebanon and presenting the challenges the country faced, the President of Syria highlighted the loyalty, mentioning the Lebanese and Armenian communities of Syria in particular.

According to Lebanese As-Safir paper, among a number of issues, Syria’s president referred to the ethnic minorities in Syria. Speaking about the Armenian community, Syria’s president rated high their devotion, adding that they managed to establish strong ties with the society and become its full part.

He reminded Armenians’ devotion in the years of civil war in Lebanon, saying that that time they did not leave Lebanon just like today they do not leave Syria.
