Many Gyumri residents noticed that ex-Mayor of Gyumri Vardan Ghukasyan after his release from Mayor stopped going to Armenian Apostolic Church. Before he was often seen in the church.

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" talked about it with Vardan Ghukasian. "I am not far from the church, and, moreover, I am against the protestants. I consider myself son of church," ex-mayor of Gyumri replied.
