Self-immolation in Armenia`s Armavir region.

On January 9 an incident took place in Armenia`s Armavir region. As photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan informed, at about 17:55pm from Armavir region`s Ejmiatsin city`s ambulance station a call was received that Taronik village resident Silva Baghdasaryan, 55, was transferred to Yerevan`s "Armenia" medical center.

According to the villagers on Jan.8, at midday, in her apartment S. Baghdasaryan poured diesel fuel on herself and burnt. She got burnings of 2, 3 and 4 degrees. According to the doctors, 90% of her body was burnt up. 

At about 23:00pm the latter without coming to consciousness died in hospital. The villagers told the journalist that Baghdasaryan suffered from mental illness and was registerd in the psychiatric center. She was discharged from the psychiatric center on Dec. 23 of the previous year.

The investigations are carried out.
