Middle East
The Taliban’s press secretary Zabiullah Mujahid has promised that the Taliban will release the people whom it kidnapped in Afghanistan on Monday. "The majority of these people are from Turkey," Mujahid said. "The Taliban likes Turks because they are also Muslims." He added that the kidnapped people are safe and sound, RIA reported.
On April 21, a helicopter with a Russian pilot whose name is Pavel Petrenko, 8 Turkish citizens, 1 Kirgiz citizen and an Afghan interpreter made a forced landing in the Afghan province of Logar, which is being controlled by the Taliban. All the crew’s members and the passengers were kidnapped. The Russian embassy in Kabul and Afghanistan’s authorities are now trying to persuade the kidnappers to free their victims.
