Blue diamond goes under the hammer for £1.5m in London

A rare blue diamond weighing 5.3o carats has been sold at an auction in London for a record $ 9.5 million.
As specified by "Bonhams' auction house, the price per carat was a record $ 1.8 million.
There was a fierce bidding for the lot by collectors and investors on 25 telephone lines, besides bidders present in the packed to capacity trading floor.
The buyer is "Graff Diamonds" company with headquarters on London's New Bond Street. The stone is set in a ring made by Italian jewelry company "BVLGARI" in 1965.
