Redesigned $100 bills coming out in October
USA
The U.S. is to put into circulation a newly designed $100 bill in October with the goal of thwarting counterfeiters with advanced security features. This was announced on Wednesday by the Federal Reserve.
The changes in design are mostly in anti-counterfeiting features, such as a blue 3D security ribbon and alternating images of bells and the number 100 that move and change as the viewing angle is tilted.
The new notes will still bear a portrait of Benjamin Franklin, one of the founding Fathers of the United States.
The $100 note is the most frequently counterfeited denomination of U.S. currency outside the United States, due to its broad circulation overseas.
