Fans convinced that Messi should not have played

Leo Messi should not have played against Bayern Munich. That is the opinion of more than 77% of the supporters according to a poll carried out by MARCA.com, who think the forward was not in a fit enough condition to play against the German side.

It appeared obvious from the star’s performance that something was not right; during the game it appeared he had no speed or energy to take anyone on. He was also the player who ran the least in his side, at 7409 metres covered, a whole 4.5 kilometres less than Xavi Hernández. It seemed pretty clear Messi was still carrying an injury.

Messi said himself after the game that he was fit enough to play, but Josep Maria Minguella, a well known football agent told COPE radio station that the player’s father had told him at midday that he was not quite right for such a big game.

Messi picked up the injury in the first-leg against PSG but played the return game with the injury, possibly making it worse. He had not played since then and seemed to have made a recovery but the game left everybody with doubts about his fitness. Was he fit enough to play? The fans think not.
