3 mln St.George ribbons to be handed out ahead of V-Day

Volunteers are hoping to hand out a total of three million St.George Ribbons as the St.George Ribbon campaign kicks off in Moscow, TASS reports.

Run by the “Student Community” Social Support Organization, the St.George Ribbon campaign will last from April 26th to May 9th .
Volunteers will be handing out orange and black striped ribbons in recognition of military valor and in commemoration of heroism demonstrated by Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45.

The St.George Ribbon Campaign was initiated by the Student Community in tandem with the RIA Novosti news agency 9 years ago.
