Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades on Monday unveiled a package of state modernization measures meant to resolve problems, which had been piling up for the past five decades, to restore the people’s trust in politicians.

The proposed measures include widening the list of crimes the head of state can be prosecuted for.

He also wants to do away with the MPs immunity and hold Cabinet ministers and other officials accountable for failure to duly exercise their duties.
