26 regions of Spain are under snow following an unprecedented snowfall over the weekend.

Roads have been closed to traffic as snow thickness reaches 20 centimeters in some areas.

Many residents have to shovel snow to get to their cars buried under it.

Snow-covered beaches are a sorry sight as well.

Weather forecasters say the current cold snap was caused by an area of low atmospheric pressure over the Mediterranean which brings in cold air from the north.
