Spring and Labor Day in Russia
Russia
Kamchatka is the first to celebrate Spring and Labor Day in Russia. The central square of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky – Russia’s easternmost city – has been turned into an open-air venue for the festivities. A festive holiday program features performances of amateur art groups and the city’s brass band.
Moscow witnesses a large-scale procession of this country’s Federation of Independent Trade Unions, also attended by representatives of the United Russia party, and the All-Russia People's Front.
The Communist Party, Liberal Democratic Party, A Just Russia Party, and various social movements similarly organize their Labor Day events.
Over a million and a half people intend to participate in Russia’s May Day trade union events.
