Blast in Baghdad claims lives
Middle East
Tuesday’s blast in Baghdad claimed four lives, 20 were injured. The tragedy occurred in the south of the city, a predominantly Sunni district of Dora, TASS reports.
The explosion occurred in the vicinity of a mosque after evening prayers.
None of the extremist groups has not claimed responsibility for the incident. Police and the military are interrogating witnesses.
The situation in Iraq deteriorated recently after government troops broke up a camp of Sunni protesters in Hawija, north of Baghdad on April 23. At the time around 50 were killed and over a hundred were wounded in the gunfire used by both sides.
The events sparked a wave of bombings and attacks across the country, targeting both Shiite and Sunni minority representatives.
In a week, the violence claimed over 230 lives, leaving hundreds injured.
