Over 60 kg of drugs seized on Tajik-Afghan border

Tajik security forces engaged in a shootout with Afghan drug smugglers on the joint border and seized about 62 kg of drugs – heroin, hashish and opium, the Tajik National Security Committee reported on Thursday, according to Interfax.
The incident occurred 155 km south of the capital Dushanbe. The criminals retreated into the Afghan territory, abandoning their cargo. Tajikistan shares a more than 1,340-km border with Afghanistan and is a transit hub for Afghan drug trafficking to Russia and Europe.
