Number of residents leaving Armenia increases

The gross amount of foreign passenger turnover through border checkpoints in January-March 2013 totalled 826,700, according to data published by the National Statistical Service of Armenia.
Over three months, the volume of arrivals to the country through all border points of Armenia totalled 394,825, including 223,710 citizens of Armenia, whereas the volume of departures was 431,923, including 259,210 Armenian citizens.
This means in January-March 2013, the overall balance of arrivals and departures from Armenia is negative: -37,098 including -35,500 Armenian citizens, compared with -25,394 in January-March of 2012.
According to data obtained through a pilot programme of electronic information management system over Armenia's borders, the external passenger traffic, carried out through the border checkpoints of Armenia in January-March 2013 included 657,045 people, compared with 524,914 in January-March 2012.
In particular, 155,502 Armenian citizens arrived in Armenia and 188,076 departed. This puts the balance of arrivals and departures from Armenia as being negative at -32,574. In the first three months of 2012, 134,291 Armenian citizens have arrived in Armenia and 157, 150 departed giving a balance of -22,859.
