Casillas awarded gold medal (video)

Iker Casillas may not be liked by his manager Jose Mourinho but the city of Madrid certainly recognises his contribution.
The Real Madrid goalkeeper has been awarded 'The Gold Medal of the City of Madrid'.

This is a recognition of 'his personal and professional contribution as one of the foremost ambassadors of the city of Madrid and Sport'.

Casillas said: 'It is an immensely joyful moment. Anyone who receives this prize knows it is for something good one has done both personally and collectively.'

President of the community of Madrid, Ignacio González, referred to Iker Casillas as: 'A sportsman who embodies the values of sport like no one else.
