Earthquake hits Kamchatka

A magnitude 5.5 earthquake shook the south of Kamchatka at 19:10 local time (06:10 Hours GMT) on Friday, the Geophysical Service at the Russian Academy of Sciences said.
The epicenter of the tremor was located 77 kilometers from the Paratunka Spa known for its pools of hot volcanic water.
The center of the quake was at a depth of 153 kilometers, the service reported.
There were no after shocks registered in the Kamchatka peninsula.
Kamchatka along with the Kuril Islands belongs to the Pacific Ring of Fire where earthquakes occur almost every day.
