The anti-immigration UK Independence Party showed a dramatic surge on Thursday in local elections in England and Wales. The Independence Party also advocates for the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.
The results showed the decline in popularity of the ruling parties of the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats.
The local elections held on Thursday in 34 regions of England and one region of Wales are regarded as a rehearsal for the 2015 parliamentary elections.
The Conservative party won 1124 seat, Laborites won 560 seats while the Independence Party won 147 seats. In fact this result shows that the Conservatives lost 335 seats and Liberal Democrats lost 123 seats in the local governments.
