Turkish and Israeli officials meet again for flotilla compensation

Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the second meeting on Gaza flotilla compensation was very positive and constructive, adding there might not be a need for a third meeting, Anadolu reported.

The second meeting between Turkey and Israel on compensation payments to the families of the victims of 2010 Israeli raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla ended on Monday.

The meeting, which took place in Jerusalem, lasted six and a half hours. The flotilla compensation was one of Turkey's key demands to agree to restore full diplomatic ties after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu extended an official apology for the deaths in Gaza raid. Turkey had also demanded from Israel to lift all restrictions on import of goods into Gaza.

The Gaza flotilla raid by Israel was held against six ships of the "Gaza Freedom Flotilla" on May 31, 2010 in international waters of the Mediterranean. The flotilla, organized by the Free Gaza Movement and Turkish Foundation for Human Rights & Freedoms & Humanitarian Relief (IHH), was carrying humanitarian aid and construction materials, with the intention of breaking the blockade on the Gaza Strip.
