Putin to chair Russian Security Council meeting on Afghanistan

President Vladimir Putin will chair a meeting of the Russian Security Council on May 8 with the subject "On the Provision of Russian National Security in the Context of Developments in Afghanistan and their Influence on Stability in Central Asia."
The Russian Security Council meeting targets the elaboration of measures towards further development of friendly relations with Afghanistan, strengthening of state and public security in the North Caucasian, Urals and Volga Federal Districts, and provision of sociopolitical stability in constituents of the Russian Federation located within those districts and Central Asia as a whole, the Kremlin reported.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will deliver a report.
