ANC activists' case sent to RA Court of Appeals

Today RA Court of Cassation started hearing of lawyers' complaints of young ANC activists. Note that the attorneys Vahe Grigoryan and Stepan Voskanyan who filed the appeal, did not participate in the meeting.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation David Avetisyan.
The Court of Cassation partly upheld the complaint. The case is sent back to the Court of Appeal.
Recall, on August 9, 2011 an incident occured between 7 activists of ANC opposition and Police the incident, after which the activists were were brought to the police station and detained. In particular, Tigran Arakelyan on August 12 was charged under Part 3 Article 258 of RA Criminal Code ("hooliganism"). On 20 July 2012 in the Court of general jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash judge Gagik Poghosyan announced the verdict in the case of ANC activists. According to the verdict, Tigran Arakelyan was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 6 years, and Sargis Gevorgyan and David Kiramijyan - two years in prison. RA Court of Appeals, chaired by Judge Armen Danielian, on 13 November 2012 left the lower court verdict unchanged.
