Eleven people have died after police in Kandahar in southern Afghanistan cracked down on a violent demonstration against attempts by Pakistan to build border posts along a colonial-era separation line which the Afghans believe runs inside Afghan territory.
The authorities say the protest had been hijacked an led by the Taliban.
