On Thursday, Real Madrid defender, Sergio Ramos, called for unity in the ranks of Los Blancos ahead of the Copa del Rey final his team will play against Atlético Madrid next week. He also added that the "controversy" must end and the Whites must all be "united".
Ramos was speaking to La Sexta - a Spanish TV station – just before the match between Rafael Nadal and Mikhail Youzhny. His aim is to put an end to the bickering in the dressing room so that Real Madrid team can concentrate on winning the only title left open to them this season.
"It's time to put a stop to all the controversy, whether about the manager (Jose Mourinho), Iker or Pepe ... Now we need to find our team spirit, get focused and concentrate on the final. That's all that matters. We need to leave our egos aside and think about winning the final. Then we'll see." he said.
Ramos, who sustained an injury in the match against Sevilla, claims he is recovering slowly and says the "idea" is to recover for the clash against Atlético Madrid. "I am on the mend and hope to play," he said.
