Kamchatka’s Shiveluch volcano in the Russian Far East has spewed ash to a height of about 4.6 kilometers above sea level, an official with the regional geophysical service said Friday.
The volcano’s level of concern color code is orange, he said. That means that ash particles may get into the mechanisms of aircraft causing an air crash, the official said.
He added that the volcano poses no danger to the local settlements.
