Pentagon warns about possible dissolution of Syria

The prospective dissolution of the Syrian state is becoming more real due to the escalation of the conflict, the head of the Pentagon Chuck Hagel said.

Speaking at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy Hagel said that the conflict is gaining momentum and the country’s dissolution is looming large.

He said that the US is urging Russia and China to take more efforts to settle the situation in Syria, which is in their own interests.
Hagel also reminded the audience about Russia and the US’ intention to hold a conference on Syria with the participation of representatives of both sides of the conflict.
