Xavi is first Barça player to win seven league titles
Sport
Xavi Hernández continues to add to his professional history having won the league once more, the seventh in his career, and this makes him the Barcelona player with the highest-ever number of league titles won, having overtaken Josep Guardiola, who as a player won six (but three more as manager).
Alongside Xavi, there is Cesc Fábregas, winning his first league title, even though he has had a long career as a professional. But his early début, at 16½, with Arsenal, also coincided with the start of a long dry spell for the London club. However, despite not having played at all for Barcelona in 2003-04, Fábregas did receive a league title medal for his ex-club.
For Xavi, this is his 24th trophy win since his début match on 18th August 1998, against Mallorca in the Spanish Super Cup. And these 24 trophies make Xavi the Spanish player with the most-ever. He has won seven league titles (1999, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013); two Spanish King’s Cups; 3 Champions Leagues; 2 World Club championships and 2 Euro Cups, among others.
