N Korea protests US-S Korea naval drills

North Korea filed a protest last Tuesday in connection with US-South Korean naval games that went under way off South Korea on Monday with the participation of USS Nimitz.

The commander of North Korea’s South-Western Front ordered People’s Army units to remain on full alert and be ready to “turn the five South Korean islands in the Yellow Sea into an ocean of fire”, if needed.

Meanwhile, Pyongyang has appointed little-known General Jang Jong-nam Minister of the People’s Armed Forces.
